Out-of-Town Counsel
If you will be attending the Cobourg courthouse from out-of-town, below you will find some helpful tips for your visit.
Courthouse Location and Hours
The Cobourg Courthouse is located at 860 William Street in Cobourg, just south of the Burnham Street 401 exit, next to the Best Western Hotel. It is open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Free parking is available on site.
Courthouse Security
The Cobourg Courthouse follows a strict security protocol. Unless you are a member of the NCLA, or you carry valid LSO ID, you will be required to have a full security screening. You must enter the Courthouse through the front doors on William Street.
NCLA Library/Lounge Access
The NCLA is staffed Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The Library is located on the main floor of the Courthouse, there are signs to direct you - once you are through Security keep left down the hallway, then turn to the right toward courtroom 2 and you will find it. Note that the Library door is locked at all times and requires a pass to open, if you do not have a pass you will need to knock to gain entry. Occasionally the Librarian will need to step away from the Library to complete other tasks, in this event any member of the local bar, court staff, or the Special Constables are able to let you into the library. The lawyers' lounge is located inside the library, we ask that counsel do not bring their clients into this space. In the lounge you will have access to a coffee machine, water, and other snacks.
Robing Rooms
Robing rooms are not attached to the Library and can be found to the left of Security, the doors are clearly marked. if you require the code to the door the Special Constables or Librarian can provide it to you. There are lockers available for day use, bring your own lock.
